Farmhouses  Farms

Before the advent of modern technology and machinery, most houses that were built were farmhouses.  Most everyone lived on a family farm, because unless you were rich, the only way to eat was to grow your food.

Many suburbs and cities were once grazing areas of cattle, or fields of crops.  Replaced by civilization.  Many contemporary neighborhoods will have a solitary farmhouse.  People often look at it and say “How did that get there?”  If the walls could only talk!  (Maybe we’re better off they can’t!)

It was traditional for families to live on their farms.  It makes sense in every aspect you look at it. First and foremost, you have the land for it.  Obviously, crops are money and the more grazing area you have the more cattle you can raise.  But you can carve out a slice for your family!

You are also close to work.  In this industry, that is more important than most because the hours are so ridiculously long.  Most days you get up before the sun rises and lay down long after it has set.  Having to commute after that would be unbearable!
